Hylton Castle Stories

After the success of last year, we are excited to launch our second creative writing competition for ages four to fourteen. Once again, we are looking for writers who can twist a tale about the beloved Hylton Castle and Dene. Whether you have a way with words or a drive for dialogue, we want to see your perspective of the castle. Be as creative as possible and make it your own! Perhaps it involves one of your favourite fictional characters or is even about your exploration of the castle. Whatever you choose, make sure to knock the judges socks off!

If you don’t fancy yourself as the next J.K. Rowling, no need to fret as we would also love to see: poetry, newspaper articles or scripts. Whatever gets the creative cogs going! And make sure to include pictures as we would love to display them in the castle.

 Story writing competition

Last year we were inundated with some truly wonderful entries that included everything from unicorns and dragons to ghosts and dinosaurs; we even had some video game based stories! Everyone who entered managed to find their own perspective of the castle and exhibited the creative power that resides within the finger-tips of the young. The stories proved that, regardless of background or ability, every child has the ability to create something truly wonderful. We look forward to seeing what our wonderful community can produce this year!
