Celebrate the transformation of Hylton Castle!
As part of Local History Month, Hylton Castle will be opening its doors for the last time before construction work begins to transform the gatehouse in to a living, working building for local people and visitors to share the stories of the castle and the heritage of the area. Events during May 2017 will offer a last chance to stand inside the castle entrance and look up to the open skies above. Plans and drawings showing the new designs and detailing proposed conservation work will be on display, and local young people from Castletown Primary School Choir and Inspire Stage School Sunderland will be performing around the castle.
Join us to find out more about the Hylton Castle Project, to discover ways in which you can get involved, and help us create the local history of the future by adding to our time capsule.
Open 10am-3pm,no need to book, just drop in. Performance will begin at 11am.
Please avoid parking on Craigavon Road - additional parking will be available at Hylton Castle Mission (behind the Hylton Castle pub) and the Bunny Hill Centre.
