Hylton Castle is the oldest secular building in Sunderland, and is currently undergoing major construction work, transforming the 14th century Grade 1 listed gatehouse and creating a new heritage-led, community space and venue for all to share. Join a hard hat tour to see the work in progress and find out how the historic fabric is being cared for alongside the installation of 21st century design and materials to give the building a new lease of life.
Hylton Castle is a live construction site and as such access is limited and not be suitable for all visitors. Unfortunately we may not be able to access the exterior scaffolding, which will be removed during the summer. Over 16's only.
